Lord of the Dance

Good news - the Tower is fixed........
Phew! A word to all kitties - don't play Thundering Herds of Elephants there, whatever you do! Hope that also meas we can go back to visit Italy without fear of being arrested. Now Opus and Roscoe can heave a BIG sigh of relief since they have to return and, being associated with the Mafia and all, wouldn't want to be implicated in the charge of sabotaging a national monument.

Bright and early we made our way to the Blarney Castle in our flying bus.

It is a medieval castle situated near Cork, near the River Martin. The original castle dates before 1200 AD but was destroyed in 1446 and rebuilt by Dermot McCarthy, the King of Munster. At the top of the partly ruined castle is the famous Blarney Stone which is said to give the gift of eloquence. You have to be positioned upside down to kiss it though. I talk far too much already, so kissing it would be superfluous.

On the way back, we stopped at the pub. Ever heard of visiting Ireland without going to the pub? The publican was very nice and allowed little Pinot to come in with us. Being responsible kitties we wouldn't let him have any alcohol, just green cordial.

Then it's time to get ready for the evening's performance. Now, efurryone must have heard of the long-running, spectacular Irish dance show "Lord of the Dance". It was created, choreographed, produced by Irish-American dancer Michael Flatley, who was also its star. Music to the show was written by Ronan Hardiman. It premiered on July 2, 1996 at the Point Theatre in Dublin and no less than 4 of its troupes are still touring the world.

The story follows the character "Lord of the Dance" and his fight against the evil dark lord "Don Dorcha" from taking over Planet Ireland. The Lord of the Dance defeats his invasion with a little help from a little spirit. The stories are based on Irish folklores with some biblical references.

When Micheal Flately heard that we were coming, he invited us and in particular, Roscoe and Opus, to be the guest star performers....

Of course, on the night all were entranced by the boys' supberb performance at the Point Theatre..............

Both photos by Opus and Roscoe with editing by Momo-kitty. We had so many encore requests that we were absolutely tired out, but elated, at the end of the night. Well done, Opus and Roscoe!!!! Great job, efurryone!!!!!!

Dance, Dance, wherever you may be, I am the Lord of the Dance, said He, I'll lead you all, wherever you may be, I'll lead you all in the dance, said He ..............

echoing in our heads as we dropped off to sleep.

Till tomorrow.....................

ROSCOE:
Tah dahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We all did such a great job at the show! I am so proud of each and everyone of us! Now there have been rumors that I put a fish in front of Michael's dressing door, just so he would slip and hurt himself (deep breath) and then I, Roscoe the mastermind, could take his place in the shoe (deep breath) but we all know that I am much to sweet and simple to come up with such a brilliant plan. Right? (wink)

WONDERFUL day! I shall be dreaming about my moment in the sun for many many cat naps!

Love,
Roscoe, LORD OF THE DANCE

OPUS: Hasn't Roscoe used up all of his fifteen minutes of fame, YET?????? Wonderful day all. Can't wait to see what is next. Thanks for the story behind the show Momo. That was really interesting.

Love,
Opus O'Tinytail

ROSCOE:
PS. I meant to say that I could take Michael's place in the SHOW, not shoe. But I guess I took his place in the shoe (or shoes) as well! Tee hee!

What a wonderful trip! The boys looked so professional up on the stage keeping the rest of the dancers in step with them. I hear that they had a ten minute standing ovation. Bravo, encore, we want more. I am still not going to think about that tower thing. I do hope so that we didn't have anything to do with the problem of the fallen tower of Pisa.
