Day in Dublin

Today we decided to take it leisurely in and around Dublin. In the morning we have arranged to go riding and explore the Irish countryside. The sleepy heads Scylla and Charybdis kept us waiting at the foyer.

Once out in the beautiful countryside they thoroughly enjoyed the ride.....

We then met up with the rest of the gang later in the morning to visit the Guinness Brewery. Leased for 9,000 years in 1759 for 45 BPS per year. St James's Gate has been the home of Guinness ever since. It became the largest brewery in Ireland in 1838 and is still the largest brewer of stout in the world.

Of course we have to visit the pub and look who are serving behind the bar.....

On the way we just have to call into the nearby Dublin Castle. It was first founded as a major defensive complex upon the orders of King John in 1204. Most of the present day complex dates from the 18th century.

Here is I, MoMo, crowned and seated on the throne of Ireland....

We returned to the Hotel for a rest before the afternoon activities. Some decided to take it easy, lazing on the beautifully manicured lawn of the hotel garden...

Socks and I took the opportunity to take a walk along the coast and enjoy some time together....

In the late afternoon we arranged to meet Sassy, Opus and Roscoe and the girls in the nearby picturesque village of Dalkey to have high tea at the Guinea Pig Cafe Restaurant. Here we all were, waiting for Scylla. Where has she gone? Opus and Roscoe have gone in to secure us a table and were looking out impatiently. Charybdis was getting a little tired of waiting and starting to doze off......

Found her! She was waiting outside the Pet Shop around the corner.....

She thought that the Guinea Pig Cafe must be INSIDE the Pet Shop and decided to wait for us there. Oh dear!

Furries taking part in this adventure include:

Sassy, Karl, Emil, Mrs Oz, Ruis, Opus and Roscoe, Socks, Scylla and Charybdis

Great idea to have the morning off and each of us could do, like catching up on rest, ha, ha,ha. I am so glad that you got some time with Socks and the horseback riding looked like a lot of fun. The tea in the late afternoon was a perfect way to end our busy day.

What another fun day. Good idea to have free time this morning as it allowed everyone to do something different that they wanted to do. We went cliff climbing. A lot of fun doing that but boy are we sore. See you tomorrow for the big day.
